One day of good weather was spent in Skansen. Now all the souvenirs purchased and packed, the ferry takes us back to Helsinki. And here’s a song to that :)

The weather’s next to awful, but the city is still very nice. I certainly can imagine myself living here. Funny, but with the exception of Prague, all the places I think I’d like to live in are monarchies.
The hotel’s much better than originally expected.
Crowns and dragons everywhere.
Rather cute palace guards, with no forced army-style behavior. Horse and trumpets parade unexpectedly cool.
Still unfamiliar with local pronunciation.
Strange hidden patios with fountains and sculptures.
Surreal blue T-line with surprises on every central station we’ve visited. Public transport at 30 Kr per hour is a rip off. Even Helsinki’s cheaper.
Sell your mom! ad campaign all over the place.
Museums that were supposed to be free started charding admission fee. A more up to date guidebook is necessary.
Postcards tomorrow.
Yesterday’s ideas about biking and geocaching went south when we’d discovered that the official bike rental outtlet is still closed for winter (one of the drawbacks of the otherwise excellent time called low season), and the alternative offered by the tourist information rented out to the scoolchildren who swarm the place as a result of Skolmusic festival.
Don’t even try to tell me to go back and check tenses in the previous paragraph.
Anyway, as a resultt, we have gone south too, admiring local wildlife and views all along our way, totalling around 30 km for the day. Järsö natural reserve has not disappointed.
Fresh smoked lax is a saving when after 6 hours the hotel breakfast runs out.
Never seen that many swans in one place.
Not a single bike of those we’ve seen has been chained.
It’s probably a first too that we’ve been in a hurry to make it to Hesburger before they close at 7pm.
The most difficult part was to make it to the hotel (400 m) from there.
A walking man is faster than a walking horse.
They should make a calendar, or postcard, or a set of stamps with local postboxes.
Seen an Uneven road sign. Scanned the road all we could. No sign of reason for it. They should have seen our new roads.
Mariehamn welcomed us with cold drizzle. The first creature to greet us was a black and white cat on the pier.
The hotel proved to be rather nice even if they’ve charged us extra for extra early check-in.
Fortunately, the morning was sunny, and it’s +8 already.
Seen two more cats, all of the town, and even some of the forest.
Geocaching and bicycles await.
Mariella is huge. Snow in Helsinki is weird. Mariahamn, here we come ! Not that anyone’s waiting for us there at 4:30 am.
Во время своей давней поездки на Сицилию я ещё не интересовался трафаретами. Тем приятнее было обнаружить этот образец в Риме.
Где, как не в Риме, быть трафарету с Мадонной (нет, не Луизой Вероникой Чикконе, хотя не удивлюсь, если и её портрет украшает какую-нибудь римскую стену).
Найдите десять отличий:
Вертикальная пара — единственный трафарет, обнаруженный на всей Мальте. В отличие от Рима и северо-восточного побережья Испании, на острове граффити вообще не в почёте (вместо яркой краски, покрывающей стены в несколько слоёв, очень изредка попадаются отдельные тэги). Тем удивительнее, что использована та же картинка, что и в Риме.
Чем так замечательна эта чудо-пушка — не знаю. Но чем-то, наверное, замечательна, иначе с чего бы её везде рисовать?
В отличие от Мальты, где на всём острове было замечено от силы с десяток тэгов и всё, Рим покрыт густым ровным слоем граффити, начиная от заборов и заканчивая вагонами метро (разве что церкви и руинки избежали этой участи), среди которых попадаются и стенсилы. Первая порция нижеследует.
Кажется, не Рим называют городом ангелов. Тем не менее, ангелов там хватает в разных видах. В том числе и в таком:
А ещё там есть две футбольные команды, областная Лацио и городская Рома. Они друг с другом не дружат, а у римлян на эмблеме — волчица (да-да, та самая Капитолина Вульф). Иногда — красноглазая.
