Всего пару месяцев назад я рассказывал одному человеку из Калифорнии, что у Гугла есть всё, чтобы сделать отличный инструмент для переводческих бюро: совместное редактирование и translation memory у них и так уже используются, пусть и порознь. И вот они выпускают продукт, почти удовлетворяющий спецификации. CNews недоумевает, как этот сервис можно монетизировать. Рассказываю: распознавая переводы, сделанные за деньги, можно порожденную в них TM использовать в гугловском переводчике, а вот его уже монетизировать напрямую. Очень будет интересно почитать ToS на предмет пунктов, запрещающих / явно разрешающих Гуглу подобное поведение.

After seeing The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), I’ve almost started regretting that I haven’t seen the previous two, being scared away by the comments and trailers that made it look more like a horror flick than an Indie Jones cousin. Not that I cannot fix this lack of education now, given the proliferation of DVD technology and such.
Unlike the company I went to see it with, I think The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was better, and The Mummy simply follows the steps, but all in all it was a very enjoyable evening. To those of you who want an argument about following steps: IJ3 was about the Holy Grail and the immortality it grants. M3 is about the lake in Shangri-la and, surprise, the immortality it grants. I4 is set in the South America. By the comment at the end of M3, if M4 is to happen, that will be in Peru, i.e. South America too. And so on.
The yetis were fantastic. I wonder if they’ve used the Grendel forms for them.
It also seems like now I’ve seen enough comic-strip-based movies to be able to slice the film as a whole into comic frames. I’m not sure if this is indeed something to be proud of, though.
