Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
An ex-colleague of mine says, it’s Edward Scissorhands revisited. I’d concur, if not for bloodred paint a-plenty and the general noir-ness of the film. Despite the latter, the three of us were near-ROTFL almost every time Anthony started to sing. The contrast with the rest of the playis fantastic — and refreshing too. (I really do wonder, why is this kid holding a pink triangle here).
It’s cool to see how Burton quotes himself (and nicely so, mind you), and Alan Rickman is just perfect.
Those who are going to see it in Russia, rejoyce: it’s subtitled, not dubbed. Go see it in the theatre, you’ll be glad you did.
