Paris, je t’aime (2006)

The best film of the year for 2006, and a perfect start for 2007, when I saw it. The reason I’m anxious to re-post it in the revived version of this blog is that it’s still showing on the screens here in St-Pete’s. Go see it! (and see below why)

A plethora of excellent actors and directors creae a wonderful mix of short stories that are not only great by themselves, but also have a distinct taste of the area they are set in (even me who only was in Paris for some 4 days can notice that). True to the main name, everything is about love, and very sincere at that. A bit too PC at some points, maybe, but not excessively so. Diversity is good.

For those who don’t fall for love stories, just imagine a ‘mucho cool’ Elijah Wood in an episode that has too many parallels with LotR it’s hilarious. The others can have a glimpse of Gaspard Ulliel who is starring as Hannibal Lector this year. Fanny Ardant is as brilliant as ever.
